Scooby news flash
Hi Everyone!
But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Triston. I am a male Mastin, 14 years young and I can tell you that I am a little proud of being Scooby’s eldest citizen. As a pup I was rescued and brought to Scooby’s. After living in the yard for a while, I am now happily living with other dogs in one of the paddocks. I am not particularly fond of the small dogs and they notice that. Because I am the eldest they fortunately are taking me seriously. They leave me alone. Having dinner together and sleeping together are not my piece of cake. I rather eat on my own pace and do not like being watched by them while doing so. When I want to sleep, then that is want I want and they should not disturb me.
After reading this you could get the impression that I am not a very kind dog. Well, you should not judge me too hard. I am a nice guy. I love being amongst people and when the dogs treat me with respect you would not find a nicer guy in the world. I am more of a people’s dog than a dog’s dog, that’s all.
And now an update on the last month of June.
Last month it was very busy over here. What was going on? About 25 veterinarians and some veterinarian students from Spain, Italy and the United States arrived. For a whole week they were busy with castrating, researching etc. The international known vet, dr. Guillermo Couto from Ohio, US was taking charge, together with dr. Pachi Clemente form Valencia, dr. Pablo Gomez from Zaragoza, dr. Guadalupe Miro from Mardi, dr. Juan Lopez from Galicia, dr. Asier Basurco from Bilbao and the couple dr. Tom and Sue Broaddus. Dr. Patty Heesakkers from The Netherlands together with an assistant and a student were also participating.
After Dr. Couto with his busy scheme as usual had done a number of speeches in Madrid he again chose to pay a working visit to Scooby’s. The students he took with him got ample opportunity to gain working experience. For all the vets this is a great opportunity to learn from each other. Of course the students and the animals at Scooby’s also benefit from this.
In the summer of 2007 dr. Couto visited Scooby’s for the first time. Like this year he took with him a number of students in order to give them the opportunity for research and gaining clinical experience. It turned out to be a very good experience for all parties included and was therefore repeated this spring. We thank everyone involved because Scooby highly benefited!
Last week everyone worked very hard and the mood was humorous and relaxed. During some late night barbecues there was laughter, talk and good food but above all it was a wonderful opportunity to getting to know each other. In short: it was a wonderful international experience and, according to all parties, to be continued in the future!
Thank you all, Triston greets you, to be continued……….
