Scooby news flash

For a long time we have been asking and looking for money to purchase a van to make it possible to transport our dogs to your home for adoption. Thanks to the generosity of our donators, Scooby could finally afford to buy a very much needed and efficient van. Thanks to your donations and support that gave us the opportunity to gain this fantastic bus! For the past year and a half we have been using this valuable vehicle for not only transporting animals but for many other things. We can’t imagine doing our work without it. During the past 18 months the van has travelled more than 140,000 kilometres. Besides these transports, of course the van is used for any kind of animals and things that need to be picked up or transported inside Spain.

The dogs can finally enjoy eating can food with their regular food. Thanks to Company EFFEM - Arevalo – in Spain. They gave us lots of cans and we’re very grateful for that!   We used the van to transport the food to Scooby!

Also we want to thank two Bakeries’ that have become friends with our Scooby-shelters Laguna and Zamora. These Bakeries’s give us a lot of bread and all dogs appreciate this very much too!  Something else we used the van for!

On behalf of our friends the pigs, we want to express our thanks to the Parmentine Company (almost our neighbour here in Medina, the chips factory) because they made us very happy by giving us many potatoes which are very enjoyable for us to eat!  We have to use Fermín’s tractor and trailer in order to bring in the potatoes.

From Lucy in Belgium we received a cat trap and of course we’re grateful for receiving this cage. It has been useful already: we caught a group of wild cats with it and they are now safe and taken care of in our cattery.  Thanks Lucy!

Those who have been working in our Scooby-shelter know that there is always a lot of daily work to be done here on a daily basis.  It is never a dull day at the shelter.  Why would that be?  Well,  lots of (often) unforeseen things happen here because our work concerns taking care of animals they can become ill, get hurt or because they are so very smart they find ways to break out and do all sorts of unexpected things.

It appears that our donkeys need dietary treatment; some are too fat, others are a little bit too skinny. All the donkeys (20) are able to walk free in several fields so it is up to our Achmed, who takes care of the donkeys, to manage that every mule gets it’s own diet to eat.

Besides these things other work has to be done also, like: cut the grass in our paddocks, take care of shaving the donkeys, do some extra cleaning here and there, repairs and so on.

It is quite obvious that we never have a dull moment here at Scooby and we try to solve every problem at times being very resourceful to find a solution.
