Farewell Bruja I’m sure many of you knew her, she was our dear Bruja, or La Loca (the Crazy one), as I used to call her, and she was the Terrier mix who always lived free at the shelter. We could never locked her up, or even put a simple collar or leash on her. She’s been the happiest dog in all of Scooby’s history. She never wanted to leave us. Once we found her an adoptive family, and when I went to pick her up to give her to her new owners, she bit me and hide from me, making her adoption impossible. When she was in her nest there was no way you could touch her, by her attitude she could destroy your hand in a matter of seconds. For the past number of months, she lived by the office with a black cat with whom she had made inseparable friends, and whom she defended tooth and nail if any other dog threatened her. I remember perfectly well her psychological pregnancies, she would steal everything she could and put it in her nest, and there was no way to take it away from her. She was the best at killing rats, the only problem was that then she would adopt them and took them to her nest, making a collection of them, until we had to take them away from her due to the smell they caused. She never ate any of them, anyway, she was tremendously special for all of us. When the phone rang at the office she started to howl, just in case you hadn’t heard. If you got too close to her vital space she would growl at you, so that you would stop doing so. She never bit anyone except for me, Fermin, as I have already told you. Well, 15 seconds after having growled at you as if she were going to destroy your members, she would come to you, lay on her back so that you would caress her tummy, implying that even with all her annoyance she loved us very much, as we loved her. We will miss her, a dog like this is absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime one, so special, so tender, so territorial. I remember her going for a walk with Roty and come back three hours later so happy. Anyway, liver cancer took her away from us. Bruja, wherever you are right now, be very happy. We will all miss you, though if I have to be honest, you represent to me what I always wished for all the Scooby animals, a long life and a short painless death. There were two days in which you were sad, and all of a sudden, while you were playing with my dogs, you collapsed. We took you to the vet and after an echography we decided that you couldn’t suffer, and now you have become a part of that Scooby that is a bit further across the rainbow. You are with my friend Maribel Moriñigo, of whom I’ll talk to you some other time, taking care of all of your friends who have left us before, and the list is getting bigger, Fedorff, Jasmine, Luna, Mesalina, Gracie, Belinda and so many others who have found their definite Scooby beyond the rainbow. For ever and ever, your human friends love you. The Scooby team
